Yuki Gambaryan, the spouse of detained Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, once again advocated for his release during an October 1 episode of Illicit Edge’s podcast “Designated.”

Yuki Gambaryan Advocates For Her Imprisoned Husband’s Release

In a conversation with “Designated” host and former CIA analyst Yaya Fanusie, Ms. Gambaryan reiterated her pleas to bring Tigran home following his unexpected incarceration earlier this year.

“Tigran is innocent and he hasn’t committed any wrongdoing. He is enduring suffering and needs to return,” Ms. Gambaryan stated. “This could happen to anyone – not just Tigran… I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.”

While Ms. Gambaryan mentioned that she is struggling “physically and mentally” due to her “overwhelming” concerns about her husband’s wellbeing, she emphasizes the need to remain strong for their two young children.

“Recently, I took them to a local park, and my son spotted an airplane in the sky. He exclaimed, ‘mommy, look, there’s an airplane! Is daddy on the airplane?’” Ms. Gambaryan shared. “It was heartbreaking.”

Health Challenges Faced by Detained Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan

Gambaryan was apprehended in the African nation earlier this year on allegations of money laundering and tax evasion after traveling to the country for a series of policy discussions with his colleague, Nadeem Anjarwalla, despite assurances of safe passage.

Concerns have arisen regarding the validity of the charges, with critics suggesting he is being exploited as a pawn in Nigeria’s disputes with Binance’s cryptocurrency operations within its territory.

While Anjarwalla managed to escape later, Gambaryan has remained incarcerated in Kuje prison, located outside Nigeria’s capital, where he has faced health issues including malaria, double pneumonia, and complications from a herniated disc.

Footage from a court appearance earlier last month shows Gambaryan appearing distressed and struggling to walk.

“I’m not okay,” Gambaryan expressed in the video, clearly in distress. “Why couldn’t I use a goddamn wheelchair? This is a show. I’m innocent—why are you doing this to me?”

“One thing I would like to see happen very soon is for the State Department to officially declare Tigran as wrongfully detained,” Ms. Gambaryan urged, calling on the U.S. government to prioritize his case.

“What Tigran is enduring daily reflects a complete disregard for justice and humanity, which should not be accepted,” Ms. Gambaryan stated. “…It is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain hope.”
