Strategy Approves Daily Dividend Payments on Preferred Shares

Shareholders in Strategy, the largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin, have nearly unanimously approved a transition to daily dividend accruals on its preferred shares: STRC, STRF, STRK, and STRD.
STRC features a floating yield that changes monthly based on board decisions. It currently stands at 12% annually.
The company stated that the change in dividend policy is driven by the dependence of Bitcoin purchase rates on the issuance and pricing of its shares. Strategy had intended for STRC preferred shares to serve as the primary tool for increasing its Bitcoin holdings in 2026. In the first half of the year, when the shares traded at par value, monthly Bitcoin purchases increased more than fivefold. Through the issuance of these shares, the company acquired approximately 13% of its total Bitcoin holdings.

However, in early summer, the preferred shares dropped 10% to $90. Although prices have gradually recovered, the shares still trade below par, preventing the company from issuing new shares to raise funds for Bitcoin purchases. At the close of trading on Wednesday, October 28, STRC traded at $99.78, with pre-market prices rising 0.43% to $99.92.
To support its share price, Strategy conducted a share buyback of STRC worth nearly $1.5 billion, but this did not succeed in returning the price to par. The company now requires additional incentives to boost demand for its shares.
During the week of October 19–25, Strategy conducted no Bitcoin transactions and did not sell shares under its direct placement program. The week prior, the company acquired 267 BTC. It currently holds approximately 848,517 Bitcoins, acquired for a total of $64.02 billion, at an average purchase price of $75,446 per coin.
