Boerse Stuttgart Obtains MiCA License Valid Across the EU
Boerse Stuttgart, through its subsidiary, has emerged as the first fully licensed cryptocurrency services provider (CASP) in Germany under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.
Boerse Stuttgart Digital Custody, a branch of Boerse Stuttgart Group, has obtained an EU-wide license to offer cryptocurrency services. The company intends to function as a regulated provider of crypto infrastructure for banks, brokers, and asset managers.
This license was issued by Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). The licensing enables the company to enhance its services and broaden its international footprint in the digital assets sector. The management aims to develop integrated solutions for institutional clients, focusing on further growth and globalization of the business.
Matthias Voelkel, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart Group, mentioned in the press release that the license will serve as a foundation for accelerating the structural growth of the digital asset division and improving access for European financial institutions to the cryptocurrency market.
MiCA officially took effect on December 30, 2024. However, the digital assets sector in Germany was already evolving prior to that date. In June 2024, citizens of the country were able to make instant incoming and outgoing payments using digital assets stored on the Bitpanda platform via IBAN accounts at Deutsche Bank.
