Tether Operations Limited, the issuer of the prominent stablecoin USDT, has announced a partnership with Uquid, a e-commerce platform. This collaboration is set to introduce the 1USDT Store, an online service that facilitates the use of USDT on The Open Network (TON) blockchain for acquiring a variety of goods and services. Specifically, residents of the Philippines will be able to contribute to the Social Security System (SSS) using cryptocurrency.

The Social Security System (SSS) serves as the state social insurance program in the Philippines, catering to both government employees and private sector workers. This program is intended to offer assistance to citizens during difficult periods and comprises two primary components: social security and workers’ compensation.

Tran Hung, CEO of Uquid, stated that the partnership with Tether will improve the accessibility of micropayments, significantly broadening the adoption of digital assets by Filipino residents for routine transactions.

Beyond the Philippines, the 1USDT Store service also enables the use of USDT for purchasing various cards to pay telecommunications companies, mobile operators, and online services in countries including Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Uzbekistan, Thailand, South Africa, Colombia, Haiti, Panama, Turkey, Ecuador, Kenya, and others. Uquid has a global user base exceeding 260 million.

The interest in stablecoins continues to rise. In response to user demands, major payment systems have begun to support transactions in stablecoins and are launching their own stablecoin offerings.
