Two illegal mining operations uncovered in the Yaroslavl region., 2026/03/14 10:47:47

Russian law enforcement and energy officials have uncovered two illegal mining farms in the village of Cherelisinо, located in the Yaroslavl region. This information was provided by representatives of the branch “Rosseti Center” — “Yarenergo.”
According to the energy company, the estimated damage amounts to approximately 10.6 million rubles. The total electricity consumption of the two crypto farms was around 1.17 million kWh.
The cryptocurrency mining equipment was situated on fenced properties equipped with surveillance systems. Inspections revealed that the facilities were connected to the electrical grid in violation of the law — bypassing metering devices and without formal contracts for energy supply.
During the operation, energy officials and law enforcement seized 64 specialized mining devices. All collected investigation materials have been forwarded to the Investigative Committee for further examination.
In Russia, the registry of miners and operators of mining infrastructure began operating on November 1, 2024. Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in cryptocurrency mining, as well as companies and entrepreneurs providing services for mining, are required to submit information to this registry.
Individuals are permitted to engage in mining without registration in the registry if their electricity consumption does not exceed 6,000 kWh per month.
Previously, specialists from “Rosseti South” reported that an illegal mining farm was also discovered under the village of Zamyany in the Yenotayevsky district of the Astrakhan region, connected to the electrical grid without proper metering.
