Russian loses 2.1 million rubles to cryptocurrency scammers., 2026/04/22 11:03:11

A resident of Mozdok has lost 2.1 million rubles while attempting to invest in cryptocurrency, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in North Ossetia.
According to the agency, a 46-year-old man discovered an advertisement for an online platform promising favorable conditions. After clicking the link, he filled out a form and provided his cryptocurrency wallet address. Shortly thereafter, 26,492 USDT stablecoins (approximately 2.15 million rubles) were deducted from his account.
An investigation has been initiated into the incident under the article concerning large-scale fraud.
The police noted that such schemes are typically associated with fraudulent investment services that mimic legitimate platforms and gain access to users’ funds after they input personal information.
Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution regarding investment offers in cryptocurrencies, verify the reliability of services, and refrain from sharing access-related information about digital assets with third parties.
Previously, the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Transbaikal Territory reported the detention of a group of individuals who attracted funds from citizens under the guise of cryptocurrency investments through the “Kryptonick” project. The damage is estimated at around 60 million rubles.
