Mastercard Collaborates with Aptos, Polygon, Avalanche, and Solana to Enhance Web3 Presence
The US payment leader Mastercard has introduced a new Web3 solution aimed at enhancing trust in blockchain transactions.
Named ‘Mastercard Crypto Credential,’ this initiative will create a framework of common standards and infrastructure that will “assist in verifying trusted interactions between consumers and businesses utilizing blockchain networks.”

In a blog entry published on April 28th, Mastercard emphasized the necessity for reliable, compliant, and verifiable interactions to occur on public blockchain networks. In this regard, Mastercard Crypto Credential is crafted to ensure that participants wishing to engage across Web3 adhere to specific established standards during any form of activity.
Beyond establishing verification standards and levels, Mastercard Crypto Credential will also deliver essential enabling technology to address a wider range of use cases.
Mastercard indicated that the emphasis will be on providing memorable, simple aliases to facilitate consumers in sharing wallet addresses with each other, thereby enhancing the user experience while minimizing the likelihood of mistakes.

Another focus of the new offering will be to enrich blockchain transactions with metadata, along with defining wallet attributes to ensure that transactions are executed as intended.
Moreover, the company has engaged CipherTrace’s suite of services to authenticate addresses and ensure compliance with the Travel Rule for international transactions.
For this project, the company has partnered with notable blockchain organizations such as Aptos Labs, Ava Labs, Polygon Labs, and The Solana Foundation. These collaborators are responsible for aiding the company in delivering Mastercard Crypto Credential to application developers within their ecosystems.
The partnership aims to improve verification in NFTs, ticketing, enterprise, and various payment solutions.
Mastercard Expanding its Web3 Presence
Mastercard has been involved in multiple initiatives within the Web3 domain. Last October, it initiated a program to assist traditional financial institutions in providing cryptocurrency trading options to their clients. The payments company collaborated with Binance to launch crypto prepaid cards in Brazil.
Recently, Mastercard detailed its intentions to introduce NFTs to support Web3 musicians in accessing resources to advance their careers.
