As of early November 2024, a report from Protos indicates that Hamster Kombat, a popular tap-to-earn game on Telegram, has faced a drastic decline in its user base, dropping from 300 million to approximately 41 million—an astonishing 86% decrease in recent months.

In contrast, PAWS, a newly introduced mini-app on Telegram, has quickly gained popularity, amassing 20.5 million users within its first eight days.

Hamster Kombat’s Difficulties and Decreasing User Activity

The Protos report emphasizes that Hamster Kombat’s user numbers have varied greatly in recent months.

In August, the number of active players reached 87 million, briefly increasing to 94 million in September before declining to 55 million in October, ultimately falling to 41 million by November.

Data from IntoTheBlock (ITB) reflects a similar decline in user activity. Hamster Kombat’s active user addresses peaked at approximately 772,330 on September 27 and 707,680 the next day.

However, by November 4, active addresses had decreased by over 36%, dropping to just 11,860.

This downturn may be attributed to various controversies. Russian expert Viktor Pershikov cautioned players regarding the game’s sustainability, pointing out that many users held unrealistic expectations for profits.

Additionally, Russian official Anatoly Aksakov criticized Hamster Kombat, describing it as “manipulative” and potentially misleading to its players.

In light of growing concerns, Hamster Kombat released a disclaimer to clarify its position regarding Gotbit, a company accused by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of market manipulation.

Dear CEOs,
We are committed to ensuring transparency within the Hamster Ecosystem.
In light of recent news regarding Gotbit, we want to clarify that Hamster Kombat has never worked with Gotbit as a market maker.

Moreover, a postponed airdrop—initially set for July 2024 but delayed until September—further eroded user trust.

Compounding user dissatisfaction, a new anti-cheat system resulted in the disqualification of many players, banning 2.3 million users and seizing 6.8 billion HMSTR tokens.

These issues have affected the market performance of the HMSTR token.

The token’s price declined from $0.0051 in October to $0.0024, representing a 55% drop and a 76% decrease from its peak of $0.01 on September 26.

The current market capitalization of the token is approximately $154.48 million.

PAWS Mini App Achieves New User Engagement Records

In the midst of Hamster Kombat’s decline, the PAWS Mini App has gained significant momentum, drawing considerable user interest on Telegram.

Within just two days of its launch, PAWS surpassed 11 million users, with that figure nearly doubling to 20.5 million in a week.

This rapid growth positions PAWS as one of the fastest-growing applications on the platform, capturing attention within the crypto community.

The PAWS community is showing increasing anticipation, especially regarding the app’s anticipated official listing date.

To enhance user engagement, PAWS initiated an airdrop campaign targeting users from previous initiatives, including those associated with Notcoin, $DOGS, and Hamster Kombat.
