Guernsey Post Set to Introduce Its Initial Series of Crypto Stamps This Month
Guernsey Post, the postal service for the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, is preparing to unveil its inaugural collection of crypto stamps.
Set to be released on July 24th, the stamps showcase Billy and Nanny, the cherished Golden Guernsey Goats, as reported by BBC.
In contrast to conventional stamps utilized for mailing, Guernsey’s crypto stamps are limited-edition collectibles that do not fulfill postal functions but instead cater to fans of both physical and digital collectibles.
Guernsey’s Crypto Stamps to Feature a Digital Twin
Each stamp is accompanied by a distinctive digital artifact in the form of an NFT (non-fungible token).
“More than 80 years after Guernsey released its first locally produced stamps, we are thrilled to enter this new market with the launch of Guernsey Crypto Stamps,” stated Bridget Yabsley, Head of Guernsey Stamps and Collectables at Guernsey Post.
She mentioned that this initiative provides opportunities for stamp collectors and digital enthusiasts to acquire, collect, and trade NFTs.

Importantly, the company has partnered with StampFinity to launch its crypto stamps.
Each crypto stamp will include a QR code on its reverse side, enabling purchasers to activate and view their corresponding digital NFTs online.
Yabsley noted that the physical stamps exhibit a traditional artistic style, while their digital versions adopt a more modern and abstract design, appealing to a contemporary collector demographic interested in blockchain-based assets.
When acquiring the Guernsey collectible, buyers will not know which NFT is linked to it, as each possesses distinct rarity characteristics.
This feature introduces a gamified element to the collection experience, with certain NFTs having rarer traits that increase their desirability and worth.
Companies Withdraw from NFT Features
It is important to highlight that there has been a trend of companies stepping back from the NFT sector.
In March, Starbucks, the well-known global coffee chain, opted to end its NFT rewards program.
In January, gaming retailer GameStop announced the shutdown of its NFT marketplace after reducing its crypto services over the last two years.
More recently, X, under Elon Musk’s ownership, eliminated a feature that permitted premium users to utilize NFT images as their profile pictures.
Despite the waning interest in the NFT sector, there has also been some encouraging news.
Last month, prominent Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo announced his collaboration with Binance for the launch of his fourth NFT collection.
This collection, unveiled on May 29 on the Binance NFT Marketplace, pays tribute to Ronaldo’s remarkable career, highlighting significant moments from his football journey.
However, it is noteworthy that the football star has faced legal challenges concerning his participation in NFT collection sales with Binance.
In November 2023, Ronaldo encountered a class-action lawsuit in a United States district court in Florida.
The plaintiffs claimed that Ronaldo had actively engaged in the offer and sale of unregistered securities in conjunction with Binance, arguing that he should have been aware of Binance’s involvement in such activities.
