Former FTX executive Ryan Salame has once again sought to delay his prison surrender date related to charges arising from his tenure at Sam Bankman-Fried’s failed cryptocurrency exchange.

FTX Executive Ryan Salame Seeks Extension

In a court filing dated October 9 in the Southern District of New York, Salame’s legal team requested that his scheduled prison report date of October 11 be postponed to December 7 “to allow him to receive ongoing medical treatment deemed necessary by his physician to recover from the injuries sustained around June 19, 2024.”

Salame was significantly injured by a dog earlier this summer, with court documents revealing that the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets experienced a “dog-bite injury to the face.”

This incident resulted in his initial prison report date of August 29 being rescheduled to this month after he required “urgent and necessary medical treatment and surgery” following the incident.

Sam Bankman-Fried’s Associates Confront Consequences

Salame’s request comes in the wake of his attempt to retract his guilty plea after the indictment of his associate, former congressional candidate Michelle Bond, on campaign finance violations.

Salame asserted that federal prosecutors had made a deal with him, agreeing to halt their investigation into Bond if he ultimately pleaded guilty to his offenses at the now-defunct .

Upon Bond’s indictment, Salame sought to withdraw his plea, which displeased presiding Judge Lewis Kaplan, who warned of potential sanctions against the former crypto executive for what appeared to be perjury.

Salame, who did not cooperate with U.S. prosecutors during the significant 2023 trial of Sam Bankman-Fried, will be the first former ally of SBF to commence his prison term.

Former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison, recently sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in the extensive crypto fraud scheme, is scheduled to report to prison for her sentence on November 7.

In the meantime, Bankman-Fried is currently serving a 25-year sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York for orchestrating the cryptocurrency fraud. Reports indicate that he shares a housing unit with Sean “Diddy” Combs.

If his request for an extension is denied, Salame will begin his 7.5-year prison sentence at a federal correctional facility on Friday. He has also been ordered to pay $11 million in fines and restitution.
