First Image of Sam Bankman-Fried Unveiled, Ex-Inmate Urges Biden to “Release Sam”
The initial prison image of ex-FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried was made public on Tuesday by crypto influencer Tiffany Fong on February 19.
The image shows a somewhat unkempt Bankman-Fried, which Fong suggests could be the first visual of the now-embattled crypto figure following his arrest in August 2023.
The Final Image of SBF?
Captured on December 17, 2023, Bankman-Fried is shown alongside other inmates, including former Blood gang member G Lock, at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, NY.

With electronic devices prohibited during Bankman-Fried’s court sessions and visits at MDC, this recent photo may be among the last glimpses of Bankman-Fried for an extended period as the convicted fraudster faces the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison following his November 2023 conviction related to the downfall of FTX.
A Month-Long Trial and Possible 100-Year Sentence
The month-long trial featured testimonies from several of Bankman-Fried’s former executives, including FTX’s ex-head of engineering, Nishad Singh, FTX co-founder Gary Wang, and former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison.
Prosecutors contended that Bankman-Fried orchestrated a complex scheme that resulted in clients of FTX and its affiliate Alameda Research losing an estimated $8 billion.
Bankman-Fried’s legal team faced challenges in their arguments before he ultimately chose to testify in his own defense, with one attorney involved in his case describing him as the “worst person” he had encountered under cross-examination.
Bankman-Fried is potentially facing a cumulative sentence exceeding 100 years in prison, although the final sentencing will largely depend on the judge’s discretion and established statutory guidelines.
Former Inmate of Sam Bankman-Fried Shares Insights
Alongside the new image of Bankman-Fried, Fong shared a preview of an upcoming interview with G Lock, which is set to be released this week.
In the preview, G Lock asserts that Bankman-Fried has not bathed during his incarceration, has grown a “full beard,” and has lost weight.

Despite labeling him as “strange,” G Lock describes the FTX founder as “a good guy” and “more gangster than Tekashi69.”
“Free Sam Bankman (Fried),” the former Blood gang member stated. “Joe Biden, you know what’s up. Pardon my son for real. You know what to do, Joe.”
Bankman-Fried is scheduled to return to Manhattan federal court for a Curcio hearing on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 21. His sentencing is presently set for March 28.
