Energy officials discovered an illegal mining operation consisting of 160 devices., 2026/04/23 10:51:09

In the Achinsk district of the Krasnoyarsk region, a mining farm consisting of 160 devices was discovered, connected to the power grid with violations in electricity accounting. This was reported by the branch of “Rosseti Siberia – Krasnoyarskenergo.”
The violation was identified during an unscheduled inspection of metering devices at an agricultural enterprise. At the “Ptitsezovkhoz” substation (35/10 kV), specialists noted damaged seals on the meters and alterations in the current scheme.
Equipment for cryptocurrency mining, including 160 computer units and related technology, was illegally connected to the network. Preliminary estimates indicate that the volume of unaccounted consumption amounted to approximately 3,350 MWh, with damages exceeding 13.6 million rubles.
The company highlighted that such unauthorized connections impose additional strain on the network, increase electricity losses, and may compromise the reliability of power supply. Furthermore, these setups often involve breaches of safety regulations.
Following the incident, employees of the branch filed a report with the police. A criminal case regarding fraud has been initiated, and the investigation is under the supervision of the Krasnoyarsk regional prosecutor’s office.
Previously, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, stated that there are over 190,000 illegal miners in the country, while only 5,500 have formalized their activities legally.
