Elon Musk’s father revealed the number of bitcoins in his sons’ wallets., 2026/04/14 14:48:41

Billionaire, entrepreneur, and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, along with his brother Kimbal, collectively owns 23,400 bitcoins. This was revealed by their 79-year-old father, Errol Musk, in an interview with the Russian-language publication BeInCrypto.
According to Errol, the Musk family has also engaged with other tokens: at one point, they received a payment in Solana (SOL) amounting to “just over a million rubles.”
“At that time, it was unusual for me to receive such a payment in cryptocurrency. When we received Solana, its value was significantly higher than it is now, and we exited the position at its peak,” Errol Musk remarked.
The interviewee has personally received payments in cryptocurrency multiple times, “bypassing traditional banking channels.” However, he currently does not own any digital assets and generally considers himself old-fashioned, although he expresses a desire to learn more about cryptocurrencies.
In the opinion of the billionaire’s father, cryptocurrency will represent the future of finance, as the old model has become outdated. Errol Musk supported his belief with personal experience, asserting that transferring money between countries through banks is “practically impossible,” while cryptocurrency transfers occur instantly.
“It’s an incredible method of moving money. For instance, if I am in South Africa and wish to transfer funds from the U.S. via a bank, it is impossible—banks deliberately complicate everything. But when I reach out to friends in the crypto space, they do it instantly, without issues,” Errol Musk explained.
According to BitcoinTreasuries, Elon Musk’s company Tesla holds 11,509 BTC and ranks 12th among the largest public holders. Musk’s second company, SpaceX, possesses 8,285 bitcoins.
Recently, Elon Musk appointed Benji Taylor, the creator of the Family cryptocurrency wallet, as the head of the design team for social network X.
