Cardano’s ADA Underperforms Market Leaders – What’s Driving the Decline?
Cardano’s ADA is currently the worst-performing asset among the 15 largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
Over the past 24 hours, ADA has lost 4% of its value. At its current price of $0.3162, ADA is approximately 10% lower than it was at this time last week.
This represents one of the steepest intra-week losses recorded by a leading layer 1 blockchain.
The only other top-tier layer 1 coin that depreciated more over the seven-day period is The Open Network’s Toncoin (TON), which dropped 12% to trade at $4.79 at the time of writing.
Why Cardano’s ADA and Other Leading Layer 1s Are Declining
Broadly speaking, all cryptocurrencies are mirroring the fluctuations of the trillion-dollar market leader Bitcoin (BTC). Bitcoin fell 3% overnight and approximately 6% over the week to trade at $54,875 at the time of writing.
BTC’s primary competitor, Ethereum (ETH), lost 2% overnight and 6% over the week, hitting $2,336 at the start of the weekend UTC.
This week, Cardano completed the “Chang” upgrade, which enables ADA token holders to vote on network development proposals, thereby democratizing and decentralizing the ecosystem.
Despite this development, the general downward trend for ADA has persisted.
The token is currently trading at a recent support level (indicated by the green line), with resistance (red line) strengthening from $0.45 to $0.40 over the course of the summer.

ADA’s falling relative strength index (RSI) of 39 is nine points away from being considered oversold. This technical indicator suggests that the weekend could see the beginning of some dip-buying activity.
Investors Seek Adventure with GameFi Meme Coin Shiba Shootout
Cardano’s ADA upgrade this week marked a significant step toward decentralized governance, but it appears the market is not sufficiently excited about Cardano to allocate additional investment this week.
Some analysts argue that there is little point in doing so. As an established layer 1 coin, Cardano is broadly destined to track the price movements of Bitcoin and Ethereum, which together serve as a litmus test for consumer sentiment in the crypto market.
However, some of the more enticing investment opportunities in Web3 are still available during presales.
One Shiba Inu-themed coin that has the potential to render many other meme coins obsolete this year is Shiba Shootout.
Shiba Shootout (SHIBASHOOT) is a new Wild West-style meme coin project that injects much-needed vitality and utility into the well-worn dog-themed narrative.
Early observers believe the token has the potential to succeed.
At the core of its gamification element is the town of Shiba Gulch, a bustling Web3 settlement where the Shiba Shootout community gathers to undertake challenges, engage in showdowns, and share memes.
This strong social element is combined with unique opportunities for players to generate rewards.
This immersive, engaging, and addictive Web3 social experience is said to have more than 1,000x potential compared to Cardano’s ADA, simply because there is nothing else quite like it.
Investors can acquire it at a fixed presale price of $0.0201 per token. Investors can purchase SHIBASHOOT using ETH, BNB, and USDT, or they can pay by credit or debit card.
