Web3 Move-to-Earn Game STEPN Integrates Apple Pay for In-App Purchases

- Apple Pay users can now use existing debit and credit cards for token purchases.
- STEPN has introduced a new “Badges & Achievement system” for iOS users.
The Web3 Move-to-Earn (M2E) game STEPN has announced the addition of Apple Pay as a fiat onramp for in-app purchases, aiming to increase accessibility and attract a wider audience. The Australian firm’s long-term goal is to eliminate the need for users to leave the app and visit third-party exchanges to purchase and sell digital assets.
Apple’s apparent shift in attitude toward blockchain-based mobile games follows the announcement of the availability of another popular play-to-earn gaming app, Axie Infinity, on the App Store. STEPN aims to remove friction from the process of purchasing and selling digital assets by integrating Apple Pay as a streamlined payment method.
Targeting a Wider Audience
This integration simplifies the process by allowing Apple Pay users to utilize their existing debit and credit cards. By streamlining the buying and selling procedure, STEPN hopes to attract a broader audience and make its services more convenient.
Additionally, STEPN has introduced a new “Badges & Achievement system” for iOS users. This update serves as a welcome addition, encouraging and rewarding players for their efforts as they progress through the game.
Historically, some in the gaming industry have viewed Apple’s regulations on buying and selling virtual goods as hostile. Notably, the tech giant has been criticized for requiring app developers to share 30% of transaction earnings with the company.
However, market watchers believe that the once-popular M2E app, STEPN, may experience a resurgence in popularity following Apple’s recent acceptance of blockchain gaming applications on the App Store.
