Major RIF and Rootstock Advancements Presented at Consensus 20230

Tim Paymans, Vice President of Product at IOV Labs, announced several important initiatives at this year’s Consensus event aimed at enhancing the Rootstock ecosystem and refining the open-source Rootstock Infrastructure Framework (RIF) with a more targeted strategy.

During the presentation, two key RIF advancements were revealed:

Five complimentary Product Development Workshops are being offered to organizations interested in designing and launching innovative financial solutions utilizing blockchain technology and the RIF protocols. Selected partners will gain access to Rootstock developers, product experts, funding, and marketing support.

RIF has introduced a new visual identity that more accurately represents its goal of accelerating the development of practical, cost-effective, and scalable blockchain-based financial products and services.

Utilizing the Rootstock sidechain, it is straightforward to develop accessible and user-friendly financial services through the RIF open-source toolkit of tools, technologies, and protocols.

RIF was designed to assist developers and financial innovators in addressing real-world, everyday challenges faced by users. This open-source technology suite serves as the foundation for creating applications that facilitate secure, simple, and affordable methods for transferring, storing, and borrowing funds.

In his presentation at Consensus 2023, Tim Paymans elaborated on the rationale behind IOV Labs’ establishment of RIF and the company’s plans to support the evolution of decentralized protocols in the future:

“Our vision at IOVLabs is a safe and equitable global financial system that enables everyone to participate and prosper. We believe the best way to make this vision a reality is by putting the tools, technology, and resources directly in the hands of the builders, founders, and financial organizations on the front line of the future of finance.

Tim Paymans also announced that IOVLabs would initiate a $2.5 million grant program for companies and developers to create applications on Rootstock, recognized as the most secure, permissionless, and censorship-resistant Bitcoin sidechain globally. This announcement complemented the RIF developments. IOVLabs aims to assist entrepreneurs and founders in shaping their financial futures by offering 100 grants this year, with the program set to launch in the coming weeks.

Pei Chen, Vice President of Growth at IOVLabs, commented on the announcement:

“IOVLabs’ investment in the Rootstock strategic grants program reflects our commitment to supporting the development of a decentralized financial ecosystem through community effort.”

“Over 1 billion people lack access to financial services worldwide. RIF aims to change this by reducing the complexity of decentralized finance and making it accessible to all.”

Businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers can leverage the open-source RIF suite to create new services or integrate cryptocurrency into existing products. They may also express interest in collaborating with RIF to co-develop a product.

IOVLabs is dedicated to laying the groundwork for financial inclusion. As part of its mission to establish a secure and equitable global financial system that allows everyone to participate and thrive, this initiative includes fostering the development of decentralized protocols such as Rootstock and RIF.
