Winklevoss Twins Contribute $4.9 Million to Back Pro-Crypto Candidates in US Elections

The Winklevoss twins, renowned for co-founding the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, have demonstrated their financial backing for pro-crypto candidates in the upcoming United States elections.
Each brother contributed $2.45 million to the Fairshake super PAC, bringing their combined total contribution to $4.9 million.
Fairshake, a significant player in the crypto-political arena, currently holds a war chest of $72.8 million.
Other prominent donors include Kraken, which contributed $750,000; Electric Capital, with a $500,000 donation; and Andreessen Horowitz, which has contributed a combined $14 million.

This influx of capital supports Fairshake’s mission to back candidates “committed to securing the United States as the home to innovators building the next generation of the internet.”
Amidst regulatory scrutiny and recent market volatility within the cryptocurrency sector, Fairshake aims to counter potential over-regulation by supporting crypto-friendly politicians.
Their largest campaign expenditure to date, amounting to $3.6 million, is directed at California Senate candidate Katie Porter, who has taken a critical stance on cryptocurrency.
This move underscores the growing influence of super PACs, a development that has raised concerns among Senator Elizabeth Warren, who fears such groups could unduly sway election outcomes.
