Zohran Mamdani’s Chances Increase to 93% on Polymarket Following Cuomo’s Cryptocurrency Commitment
New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is currently ahead in a Polymarket survey, following opponent Andrew Cuomo’s commitment to transform the city into a crypto hub.
Zohran Mamdani Maintains Strong Position on Polymarket
The poll titled “New York City Mayoral Election” indicates that 93% of Polymarket participants believe Mamdani will take office as mayor after next month’s election.
In contrast, only 6% of Polymarket participants foresee former governor Andrew Cuomo becoming the next mayor of New York City.
Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa is lagging with a mere 1% of the votes on the decentralized prediction platform.
Cuomo Promotes Crypto Commitment With Weeks Remaining
The latest poll results emerge just a day after Cuomo revealed that his administration would create a chief innovation officer role to “ensure New York City remains the global leader in business, technology, and job creation.”
If elected, Cuomo stated that this position would be filled “in consultation with the recommendations of an innovation council” comprising prominent figures in the areas of crypto, AI, and biotech.
“New York has always been the city that leads,” remarked Andrew Cuomo. “We constructed the tallest skyscrapers, established the financial center of the world, and were the originators of the labor movement, the civil rights movement, and the LGBTQ rights movement.
“The next Mayor must ensure we are also at the forefront of the technologies that will shape the next century—AI, blockchain, and biotech,” he continued. “That’s the essence of this position: Keeping New York City not just competitive, but dominant in the global innovation economy.”

A recent poll conducted by AARP and Gotham Polling shows Mamdani leading with 43.2%, while Cuomo has only 28.9% of the vote.
With only weeks remaining until the election, it remains uncertain whether Cuomo’s focus on the crypto industry will enable him to achieve an unexpected win.
