XRP Price Slides as ETFs Defy Crypto Market Selloff

US spot XRP ETFs recorded approximately $740,000 in net inflows even as the token lost 6% of its price over a 24-hour period. In contrast, , Ethereum, Solana, and Hyperliquid funds lost nearly $400 million combined on October 14. This divergence is notable as inflationary pressures weighed on broader .

Crypto prices slid following a hotter-than-expected US Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading on October 14. A higher inflation print can dampen expectations for monetary easing, putting pressure on risk assets. This broad market move helps explain why positive XRP ETF demand did not translate into a same-day price gain.

As of today, XRP ETFs have recorded 13 consecutive weeks of net inflows, with the last losing week ending on July 10 at about $7.2 million in outflows. Cumulative net inflows reached a record $1.80 billion, providing evidence that demand for the funds has persisted through a weak stretch for the underlying token.

The pace of inflows has cooled from its late-September peak. The week ending September 25 brought $75.6 million in inflows, followed by $4.7 million and $11.3 million in the subsequent two weeks, respectively.

This gap between flows and fund size is significant. XRP ETF net assets fell from $1.77 billion on September 25 to $1.51 billion as the token price declined, despite continued net additions; lower asset values can offset inflows.

XRP Whale Deposits, Supply Counterweight, and Price Recovery Path

XRP price remained about 64% below its all-time high of $3.65, set on July 17, 2025. At the same time, its 30-day XRP whale deposits to Binance reached 1.669 billion XRP, a seven-month high, compared with roughly 1.65 billion XRP in September.

Higher exchange inflows can increase the amount of XRP available for sale, adding a potential supply overhang while ETF buyers continue accumulating. However, deposits are not proof of selling; the transfers may reflect wallet reshuffling or the use of other Binance services, and the reported metric alone does not confirm that holders sold their coins.

The setup is therefore a tension, not a confirmed reversal signal. If the market continues to price the inflation data negatively, XRP can remain under pressure despite ETF inflows. If the streak persists and whale deposits do not turn into verified selling, the demand-versus-supply imbalance remains unresolved.

The next test is whether the wider market stabilizes after the October 14 CPI reaction. Until that happens, sustained fund demand has yet to demonstrate that it can outweigh macro-driven selling in the spot market.
