Ubisoft, a leading computer game developer, has declared its intention to become a validator on the XPLA blockchain network. This partnership will be facilitated through Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab, which will also see the company actively participating in the governance of XPLA.

XPLA is an open-source Layer 1 blockchain network that utilizes the Tendermint protocol. The initiative employs a PoS consensus mechanism supported by the Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) algorithm and provides a comprehensive suite of tools for game developers. The aim of the project is to assist in the transition from Web2 to Web3 gaming.

In November 2023, Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab established a strategic partnership with Immutable. The collaboration aims to create a Web3 gaming platform and incorporate cryptocurrency elements into existing titles.
