Vitalik Buterin has sold a new batch of meme coins., 2026/04/01 15:44:08

Co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, has sold a new batch of meme coins that were donated to him, generating 14.5 ETH, which is approximately $30,000, according to analytics platform Onchain Lens, referencing data from Arkham Intelligence.
Analysts noted that several transactions involving the sale of meme coins KIMCHI, LAPUTA, and PEPE were executed from Buterin’s address. The entrepreneur has repeatedly expressed his desire not to receive any tokens as gifts and has urged developers to direct coins to charitable organizations, as he does himself.
Previously, Buterin donated SHIB tokens valued at around $600 million to the nonprofit organization Future of Life Institute (FLI), which focuses on research in artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, Buterin criticized this organization for deviating from its original mission of mitigating AI risks after receiving the donation, instead concentrating on political lobbying.
Onchain Lens highlighted that Buterin continues to actively utilize privacy tools—he transferred 70,000 USDC stablecoins and 44 ETH, totaling $92,000, to the private protocol Railgun.
Buterin has stated that privacy is a fundamental human right. In January, he defended Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, asserting that the creation of privacy-enhancing services should not be deemed a crime.
Recently, Buterin remarked that relinquishing control of significant transactions or crypto wallets to artificial intelligence is highly risky, especially when substantial amounts of funds are involved.
