Vana to Initiate Mainnet for User-Controlled Decentralized Data
On November 20, Vana revealed plans for the imminent launch of its mainnet, which will introduce a blockchain ecosystem aimed at facilitating decentralized management and monetization of user-owned data.
As per the announcement from the Vana Foundation, the new EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain will accommodate DataDAOs, enabling users to consolidate their data while retaining complete authority over its application.
DataDAOs with Control Over User Data
According to the statement, DataDAOs will empower individuals to collectively gather and oversee their data. These decentralized organizations will allow participants to aggregate personal datasets while preserving privacy and consent regarding how the data is accessed or utilized.
The VANA token will fulfill various functions, including validating data contributions, governing the network, and covering transaction fees. Users who contribute data to DataDAOs may earn rewards through a system that assesses the value of the datasets submitted.
We’re entering the next phase of Vana: with the creation of the Vana foundation, we’re gearing up for the upcoming launch of Vana mainnet, a bold step forward in accelerating the AI data revolution.

Vana prioritizes privacy and data security within its architecture. The foundation states that users can securely store their data and determine access permissions without relinquishing ownership.
The announcement highlighted that Vana’s decentralized framework is structured to adhere to global data regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, providing a compliant and scalable solution for systems centered on user-owned data.
“To upload personal data to a DataDAO, you can either be compensated in token rewards upfront by a DataDAO, which then encrypts your data with a key controlled by the DataDAO, and can vote to utilize the collective’s data to train a model,” the statement explains.
“Alternatively, you can retain your data in your own personal storage and only decrypt it when a data buyer pays for access; they then train their model in a secure environment,” the Foundation added.
