US Reacts to Significant BRICS Expansion Initiative as Countries Aim to Introduce Global Currency and Move Away from Dollar
The US State Department is addressing reports indicating that the coalition of economically-aligned nations known as BRICS is on the verge of a significant expansion.
This coalition, which aims to introduce a global currency to rival the US dollar, has attracted interest from over a dozen countries seeking membership.
The list of prospective new members includes various nations from Africa, and State Department representatives inform Fox News that existing US policy will not obstruct African or other countries wishing to participate.
“We prioritize a positive agenda for Africa, showcasing the advantages of our governance and economic frameworks.
US policy does not require our partners to choose between the United States and other nations.”
Officials from the State Department assert that the agency’s goal with international partners is centered on enhancing democratic governance, human rights, and economic opportunities, rather than exerting control over economic alliances.
The roster of countries reportedly interested in joining BRICS includes Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Bahrain, Algeria, Argentina, and Indonesia, along with three additional unnamed nations in Africa.
Foreign ministers from the five current BRICS members are scheduled to convene in June to deliberate on expansion initiatives and the group’s efforts to establish a new currency that is likely to be linked to gold and possibly other assets.
