UniCredit and Wise Introduce Instant Global Transfers
Customers of UniCredit in Italy can now execute international money transfers in foreign currencies almost instantly through the bank’s mobile application.
UniCredit has become the inaugural bank in Italy to provide retail clients with international transfer services that match the speed, clarity, and cost-effectiveness of domestic transactions. This innovative service, created in collaboration with Wise Platform, enables users to transfer funds in foreign currencies directly through the UniCredit mobile app.
The service will be accessible to UniCredit’s retail clientele in Italy starting from July 21, 2025, with intentions to extend to other nations in the future.
The new offering from UniCredit facilitates conversions from euros into a variety of foreign currencies, including:
- British Pound (GBP);
- Swiss Franc (CHF);
- Hong Kong Dollar (HKD);
- Singapore Dollar (SGD);
- Indian Rupee (INR), among others.
The array of supported currencies is expected to expand. In most instances, funds are available almost instantly, and clients receive clear information regarding fees and the status of each transaction.
The integration relies on Wise’s infrastructure, which connects directly with local payment systems. This approach removes delays and concealed charges typically found in traditional bank transfers via correspondent networks.
This new capability enhances the bank’s current offerings such as UC PayFX, which accommodates over 120 currencies, and UC PayFX Webservice, which provides tools for managing currency risks and monitoring transactions.
Steve Naudé, Global Managing Director at Wise Platform, highlighted that this collaboration signifies a major advancement for millions of UniCredit customers who will now experience a heightened level of efficiency in international payment processes.
In May 2025, Wise entered into a similar partnership with Raiffeisen Bank International, allowing both private and corporate clients across eleven Central and Eastern European nations to perform rapid and secure international transfers.
