U.S. Sheetz Store Chain Starts Accepting Cryptocurrency Payments

Sheetz, one of the largest convenience store chains in the United States, has begun to accept cryptocurrencies as a method of payment for its products and services.

Sheetz, a convenience chain that provides a range of consumer services, has enhanced its collaboration with digital payment provider Flexa. This development enables customers at all Sheetz locations to utilize USDC and other widely-used cryptocurrencies for payment.

As stated in the press release, the companies had previously conducted successful trials of crypto payment acceptance at select sites in response to the increasing demand for alternative payment options. Currently, cryptocurrency payments are accessible at more than 750 Sheetz locations across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, and Maryland. This positions Sheetz as one of the first significant chains in the U.S. to embrace crypto payments.

Trevor Filter, Co-Founder of Flexa, remarked that the interest in various applications of stablecoins continues to rise. He also mentioned that the new technology integrates seamlessly with Sheetz’s existing in-store point-of-sale systems, ensuring a quick and efficient checkout experience.

Furthermore, the Flexa payment system is anticipated to connect with Sheetz’s My Sheetz Rewardz loyalty program, enabling customers to earn rewards for purchases made using digital currency.

Crypto payments are gaining traction across multiple sectors. This year, the adoption of cryptocurrencies for receiving payments from abroad for goods and services has seen a notable increase in Brazil.
