U.S. Military Establishes Its Own Node in the Bitcoin Network, 2026/04/23 12:06:30

The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) has initiated its own node within the Bitcoin network, as stated by Admiral Samuel Paparo.
According to him, this initiative is part of an experimental program aimed at integrating decentralized technologies into governmental monitoring systems to counter cyber threats.
“Currently, there is our node in the Bitcoin network. The military is conducting operational tests to assess the protocol’s capabilities. Bitcoin is no longer a theory; it is a reality. It serves as a valuable tool in computer science and a component of power projection,” said Paparo.
The project’s objectives include examining the cryptographic mechanisms of the network, utilizing distributed ledger technology for real-time system monitoring, reducing the risks of unauthorized data alterations, and enhancing infrastructure resilience through decentralized architecture.
Paparo emphasized that the government views blockchain not as a financial asset but as a means for data verification and ensuring immutability.
He also pointed out that the military is not involved in mining the first cryptocurrency and uses Bitcoin solely as a technological and cryptographic platform. The outcomes of the tests will determine the potential for scaling similar solutions to other U.S. agencies.
Previously, analysts from GoMining reported that the Bitcoin network has entered the era of zettahash for the first time in history; however, the profitability of mining companies has significantly declined.
