All Telegram Mini Apps utilizing Web3 technologies will be required to exclusively operate on The Open Network (TON) blockchain. Toncoin has been designated as the sole cryptocurrency for transactions within the Telegram platform.
Telegram and the TON Foundation have established an exclusive partnership, designating The Open Network as the central technological framework for all Web3 applications within the Telegram ecosystem.
The agreement stipulates the exclusive utilization of the TON Connect protocol to connect Telegram Mini Apps with blockchain wallets. This initiative aims to enhance user interfaces by ensuring that all Telegram Mini Apps featuring Web3 components utilize TON for blockchain transaction connectivity and authorization.
The integration of the TON Connect protocol is expected to be completed by the end of February 2025. Developers are encouraged to begin the migration process early to facilitate a smooth transition and prevent service interruptions. As an incentive, developers who complete the transition on schedule may qualify for Ad Credit grants of up to $50,000.
Additionally, Toncoin will serve as the exclusive cryptocurrency for non-fiat transactions within the Telegram ecosystem. This includes payments for:

“The revitalized, deepened, and exclusive partnership with Telegram is a significant milestone in our roadmap,” stated Manuel Stotz, President of The Open Network Foundation, who outlined ambitions to expand The Open Network’s user base to 500 million active users by the end of the decade.
Previously, the TON Foundation collaborated with the ride-hailing service TADA, popular in Southeast Asia, to create a Telegram Mini App that allows users to book taxis and pay for rides using cryptocurrency.
