The tokenized U.S. Treasury market’s volume may reach $3 billion by the conclusion of 2024, driven by the initiatives of major traditional finance (TradFi) firms. Wan attributes the growth drivers to the increasing adoption of tokenized U.S. Treasuries and for asset diversification by decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). The analyst also mentioned that due to the offerings from TradFi leaders, the market capitalization of tokenized securities could potentially double by the year’s end.

BUIDL boasts a capitalization exceeding $528 million, while BENJI’s capitalization is just above $400 million.

Tom Wan highlighted that BUIDL’s rising popularity stems from Securitize and BlackRock’s approach to diversifying investment portfolios through risk-free U.S. Treasury yields, allowing investors to remain within the blockchain ecosystem.

Leading consulting firms regard the potential for financial asset tokenization very highly. A report from the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA) and Boston Consulting Group indicates that the global value of tokenized illiquid assets could reach $16 trillion by 2030. Analysts at Citigroup anticipate that the market for tokenized assets will expand to $4–5 trillion over the next six years.
