The Far East has decided against including mining in the preferential regime., 2026/04/29 09:40:53

The head of the Ministry for the Development of the Far East and Arctic, Alexey Chekunov, announced that cryptocurrency mining will not be included in the preferential regime due to the industry’s significant reliance on market fluctuations.
The regime, which encompasses a set of benefits for businesses, is scheduled to be implemented starting January 1, 2027. The ministry prioritizes the development of areas such as infrastructure for data centers and artificial intelligence. These projects ensure predictable electricity demand, in contrast to mining, whose profitability is contingent on cryptocurrency prices.
“Mining is not a margin-driven endeavor; it is cyclical. When Bitcoin was valued at $100,000, it was highly profitable. When it dropped to $50,000, companies began to go bankrupt. Mining will not receive support at our level,” the minister stated.
Chekunov reminded that the Ministry of Digital Development has already differentiated between mining farms and data processing centers, and his agency will follow the same path. Starting in 2025, data processing centers registered with the Ministry of Digital Development that have ceased cryptocurrency mining will receive electricity at preferential rates.
Previously, the chairman of the State Duma’s Committee on Financial Markets, Anatoly Aksakov, suggested placing mining equipment in regions with an excess of energy capacity.
