The Count of BTC Millionaires Increased Twofold Over the Past Year
In the last year, the count of individuals possessing over $1 million in BTC rose by 111%. This notable growth in BTC has elevated the total number of Bitcoin millionaires to 85,400.
As per the Crypto Wealth Report 2024 by Henley & Partners, as of June 30, 2024, there are 85,400 individuals globally who own BTC valued at over $1 million, while the overall number of crypto users with digital assets exceeding $1 million totals 172,300.
From July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, the population of Bitcoin millionaires grew by 111%, and the overall count of crypto millionaires increased by 95%. The segment of centimillionaires, defined as crypto users holding more than $100 million in digital assets, also experienced a 79% rise over the year. In total, there are 325 crypto centimillionaires, which includes 156 BTC centimillionaires, doubling the figure from the previous year.
The tally of crypto billionaires also saw an increase of 6 individuals over the year. Currently, 28 individuals possess digital assets valued at over $1 billion, including 11 BTC billionaires. Andrew Amoils, Head of Research at New World Wealth, indicated that Bitcoin was the primary driver behind the growth in the number of crypto billionaires, as the wealth of five out of six newly minted billionaires was attributed to BTC.
The report highlights that the total number of cryptocurrency users surged by 32% to 560 million. Among these, 275 million are BTC holders, reflecting a 31% increase compared to the previous year. Analysts also observed that throughout the year, the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies soared by 89%, reaching $2.3 trillion, with Bitcoin accounting for $1.2 trillion of that total.
This year, the Bitcoin network underwent another halving, shortly before which BTC achieved a new all-time high (ATH) of $71,000. Additionally, the asset has surpassed gold in terms of scarcity. Bitcoin is increasingly being viewed as a potential asset for state reserves and is garnering interest from major pension funds.
