The Central Bank of Russia addressed inquiries regarding the digital ruble as a payment method for purchases on websites and mobile applications. The question and response were shared on the Telegram channel of the primary financial regulator.
The Central Bank confirmed that payments can be made online using digital rubles. Currently, this option is available only for participants in the pilot project for the central bank’s digital currency (CBDC) launch.

At the end of February, the Central Bank of Russia introduced a draft document outlining the procedures for issuing salaries in digital rubles.
