The amount of damage from hacking crypto projects has been announced0

The amount of losses from hacking of crypto projects in December 2025 amounted to $76 million compared to $194.2 million in November, that is, decreased by 60%, reported representatives of the PeckShield company working in the field of blockchain security.

According to analysts, despite a significant reduction in overall losses, cryptocurrency owners still lost tens of millions of dollars due to cyber attacks. In December, 26 major incidents related to the security of crypto platforms were recorded.

Among the most significant incidents of December, PeckShield experts named the hacking of the browser extension of the Trust Wallet wallet, which cost users $7 million. The attackers also attacked the Flow protocol and stole $3.9 million.

While the decline in monthly stolen funds is a positive trend, investors should remain vigilant and implement security measures to protect against common fraud schemes and cyber attacks, PeckShield advised.

The focus of attackers is gradually shifting from large protocols to small projects and their clients, where the average loot size is smaller, but the probability of success is higher. The trend could indicate that security on crypto platforms is strengthening and security gaps are moving to the end-user level, security experts have suggested.

Previously, experts from the cybersecurity company SlowMist reported that the volume of cryptocurrencies stolen through phishing attacks fell by 83% over the year, amounting to $83 million in 2025. In 2024, losses reached $494 million, but the attacks were less sophisticated.
