Tether and VBA Collaborate to Promote Blockchain Learning in Vietnam

The issuer of the Stablecoin, Tether, is introducing blockchain and cryptocurrency education to Vietnam through a strategic alliance announced on Tuesday.

The established US dollar-backed stablecoin parent company Tether Operations Limited has teamed up with the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) to inform public stakeholders about the emerging technology.

The collaboration intends to host a series of workshops and conferences, “promoting knowledge-sharing and capacity-building” within the blockchain sector, as stated in the official announcement.

The VBA inaugurated the Academy of Blockchain and AI Innovation on April 24 during an annual forum, according to a local report. This educational initiative aims to enroll one million individuals by 2030, including 100,000 students from 30 universities across Vietnam.

The academy is comprised of a board of directors, a scientific council consisting of leading blockchain experts, and an executive committee.

As per the 2023 crypto gains report by Chainalysis, Vietnam secured the third position overall in total crypto gains, amounting to $1.18 billion. The nation demonstrated robust cryptocurrency adoption that remained notably strong even during the recent .

Moreover, 17% of the Vietnamese population owns or has owned cryptocurrencies, with the predominant age group being between 25-34 years.

Tether Aims for Expanded Stablecoin Education

Tether’s collaboration with the VBA seeks to disseminate knowledge about the potential of digital finance to local communities in Vietnam. Consequently, the partners will organize five educational conferences in major cities, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

“We are pleased to partner with VBA to educate about blockchain technologies as practical solutions to the distinct challenges faced by Vietnamese communities,” remarked Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether.

The VBA will also develop extensive learning and development opportunities for the younger generation through joint training and research initiatives.

This will enable them to “confidently enter the digital era and enhance their fintech knowledge,” stated Phan Duc Trung, vice chairman of VBA.

Additionally, the blockchain academy has launched the UniTour 2024 program specifically tailored for university students. This initiative, supported by Tether, has already imparted valuable insights regarding the applications of blockchain according to university requirements.
