“Euphoria” actress Sydney Sweeney has recently become another celebrity targeted by social media cryptocurrency scams. The well-known actress’ X account was compromised on Tuesday to promote a Solana-based memecoin named SWEENEY.

The series of Tweets, which were later removed, featured posts about a newly launched Pump.fun memecoin, seemingly associated with her name. The fraudsters asserted that the token was an official release from the Euphoria actress.

“Well, I think it’s time,” stated the fraudulent promotion. “SWEENEY is now live 100mc incoming.”

The actress’ account also referred to her as the “Queen of Sol,” making comments about industry figures such as Sahil Arora, a controversial promoter of celebrity memecoins.

Surprisingly, this marks the second occasion this year that Sweeney’s X account has been hacked. In January, attackers utilized her account to Tweet and promote a Solana-based sex-themed token.

While some crypto users on Twitter recognized the promotions as fraudulent, the SWEENEY token rapidly gained over $1 million in market capitalization following the deception.

Within an hour, the actress regained access to her X account and removed all pertinent Tweets. She has yet to issue any public comments regarding the hack.

Sweeney’s Hackers Identified?

It appears that the individuals behind the creation of the SWEENEY token openly acknowledged on a Telegram channel that they had hacked her account.

They also claimed responsibility for the hacks of rapper 50 Cent and former wrestler Hulk Hogan’s accounts to promote similar fraudulent tokens.

Additionally, the perpetrators indicated that they would soon target another “popular” celebrity in the upcoming days, although they did not provide specific details. They also mentioned that savvy crypto traders could acquire the token through a presale, provided they send at least 5 SOL ($740 at the time of writing) to an anonymous Solana wallet.

As celebrity memecoins gain popularity, many have become increasingly susceptible to scams. For example, the well-known American rapper Dimitri Leslie Roger, known as Rich The Kid, was observed posting a link to purchase his new token called ‘RICH.’

The posts were subsequently deleted, and the rapper neither confirmed nor denied the authenticity of the coin.
