Stellar Incorporates Mastercard’s Identification System to Enhance Transaction Security
The blockchain network Stellar has adopted Mastercard’s Crypto Credential solution to enhance the verification of transactions within its system. This integration aims to bolster the security of cryptocurrency transfers on Stellar.
The Stellar Development Foundation has revealed the incorporation of Mastercard’s Crypto Credential solution, which is an alias-based data authentication framework, into the blockchain. This aims to introduce mechanisms for transaction verification and to ensure the identification and validation of participants in the process.
As stated in the press release, Mastercard’s solution will allow Stellar to enhance the security of cryptocurrency transfers by fostering a greater level of trust among transaction participants. The Crypto Credential will enable Stellar users to adhere to regulatory standards when utilizing Coins.ph, Mercado Bitcoin, and Wirex wallets. The integration of Mastercard’s ID system will also open up further opportunities for both organizations and individuals engaging with digital assets on the Stellar network for cross-border transactions and other financial activities.
The primary objective of this partnership is to establish a more resilient ecosystem for the exchange of digital assets, which will help minimize fraudulent activities and enhance the overall transparency of cryptocurrency operations. Raj Dhamodharan, Executive VP of Blockchain & Digital Assets at Mastercard, noted that the synergy between Stellar and Mastercard’s technology will offer the e-commerce sector more secure and streamlined solutions for financial transactions involving digital assets.
Denelle Dixon, CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation, asserts that collaborating with Mastercard will bolster global confidence in cryptocurrencies, as the Crypto Credential will assist Stellar in simplifying compliance procedures and mitigating risks related to illicit transactions.
The Crypto Credential solution was introduced by Mastercard in May 2024, allowing users to utilize aliases instead of cryptocurrency addresses for blockchain transactions.
