Soneium Partners with LINE to Launch 4 Mini-Apps Onchain

Sony’s Layer-2 blockchain Soneium has partnered with Japanese social media platform LINE to deliver four gaming functions on-chain. This collaboration comes two months after Soneium went live in January.

The mini-apps will be launched on the Soneium blockchain in the coming months, according to an official statement. The partnership opens new opportunities for wider reach in regions where LINE has a strong foothold.

The two companies noted that the collaboration would deliver an enhanced user experience with “smoother, scalable and accessible blockchain interactions.”

“LINE has built a strong presence and integrating successful mini-apps into the Soneium ecosystem is a next step towards making Soneium more accessible,” said Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs. “We believe this collaboration will drive engagement and adoption in ways that were previously difficult to achieve.”

4 LINE Mini Gaming-Apps Come to Soneium

LINE’s nearly 200 million active users will get access to four mini-apps on Soneium – Sleepagotchi, Farm Frens, Puffy Match, and Pocket Mob. Additionally, the collaboration will enable in-game reward features and purchases.

For example, the Farm Frens mini-game, which ranked high on Telegram last year, aims to onboard LINE’s Web2 users following its relaunch on Soneium.

Alternatively, the mini-app Puffy Match by Moonveil offers fast play sessions that help with better community engagement and rewards.

“Its upcoming launch on LINE via Soneium expands Moonveil’s reach, bringing innovative on-chain gaming to millions while attracting developers to its growing ecosystem.”

Soneium recently launched its first music NFT collection on its blockchain in collaboration with on-chain record label Coop Data.

Fast Rise of Blockchain Mini-Games

Blockchain-based mini-games allow the combination of social interactions with entertainment with the prospect of crypto rewards and incentives for players.

Trending social media, including Facebook, Telegram, WeChat and TikTok, already provide access to mini-games, reaching millions of global users.

The recent partnership aligns with the evolution of digital experiences, given LINE’s reach in countries including Japan, Taiwan and Thailand.

Early this year, LINE launched dApps (decentralized apps) and a dApp portal, aiming to drive large-scale Web3 adoption in Asia.
