SOFTSWISS Conducts Assessment of South Africa’s iGaming Sector
The iGaming products market in South Africa is experiencing significant growth. Nearly half of the sector’s revenue comes from betting platforms favored by users of eSports.
Analysts from SOFTSWISS, a prominent provider of solutions for the iGaming sector, have released an extensive study on the online gambling landscape in South Africa. Their findings indicate that the sector’s revenue is projected to reach €51 million in 2024. This figure reflects consistent growth patterns and could rise to €64.9 million by 2028.
The primary catalyst for growth in this sector is the sports betting segment. Revenues from bookmakers are anticipated to hit €24.3 million in 2024. The demographics and preferences of local users are also evolving. For instance, sports betting is increasingly appealing to a younger demographic, with 51% showing a preference for eSports.
Additionally, the local audience favors “simplicity and instant gratification,” making crash games, particularly Aviator, highly popular among online casino players.
Crash games operate on the following mechanics: during gameplay, an element ascends the chart. As this element rises, the multiplier applied to the bet in each round increases. Players can cash out their accumulated winnings at any moment, as long as the element continues to ascend. However, if the element drops, the game concludes, and the player’s bet is lost.
Note: All forms of gambling carry the risk of financial loss. In certain instances, it may lead to the onset of a gambling addiction. CP Media strongly advises against engaging in this type of entertainment.
The report by SOFTSWISS offers further insights into the iGaming market in South Africa. Recently, the company was honored with the SiGMA Africa Awards in the Responsible Gaming 2024 category.
