Saga Introduces Mainnet 2.0, Collaborates with Uniswap

Layer-1 blockchain protocol Saga has revealed the launch of its Mainnet 2.0 and a new partnership with the prominent decentralized exchange (DEX) Uniswap.

Mainnet 2.0 is designed to revolutionize blockchain economics and the industry’s approach to liquidity, according to a press release distributed to Cryptonews.

This initiative brings the team closer to the introduction of its Liquidity Integration Layer (LiL) in the first quarter of 2025.

The innovative layer will enhance the foundational infrastructure of Mainnet 2.0 to offer a solution for “unified liquidity across all blockchain ecosystems.”

Developers can now create on Mainnet 2.0 and will effortlessly integrate into the LiL environment once it is launched.

‘Never Pay Gas Fees’

The Saga team contends that “unprecedented challenges” have emerged in the sector due to the increasing number of independent blockchains. This particularly affects liquidity management and cross-chain functionalities.

This disjointed landscape of appchains and Layer-2s “compels users to navigate intricate bridges, manage various tokens, and incur unpredictable fees merely to execute basic transactions,” she added.

Mainnet 2.0 and LiL aim to address this by establishing a cohesive environment for liquidity to flow “freely” between chains and applications.

The team indicated that Saga represents “a radical departure” from conventional blockchain economics.

By combining LiL with a new token economic framework, Saga will automate bridge and routing transactions. Furthermore, it will eliminate gas fees for users engaging with products on the chain.

Saga does not impose per-transaction gas fees, which often create obstacles for users and developers. Instead, it generates revenue by capturing a percentage of the total value transacted through the network.

This model facilitates complete interoperability between blockchain ecosystems, gasless transactions for end users, seamless asset transfers between various chains and applications, and new revenue prospects for developers without imposing burdens on users.

Moreover, it removes complicated bridge systems and token management, the team stated.

Partnership with Uniswap, Evmos, and Squid Router

Another significant development announced alongside the Mainnet 2.0 launch is the collaboration with Uniswap.

According to the announcement, Uniswap v3 is now operational on Saga’s natively multichain protocol “in a historic first.” This marks the first app chain, as stated by the team.

The deployment of Uniswap v3 on a Saga Chainlet will facilitate entirely gasless trading, while Saga’s LiL will allow automated asset transfers from any ecosystem to the Uniswap DEX.

The partnership eliminates a major hurdle to widespread and makes decentralized finance accessible to all, according to the team.

In addition, to facilitate the Mainnet 2.0 upgrade, Saga is collaborating with two infrastructure partners: Evmos and Squid Router.

Evmos is supplying the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) runtime for Saga’s chainlets, as stated by the team. This allows for native support of EVM tokens.

Simultaneously, Squid Router is extending its token swapping and routing services to Saga’s EVM environment.

These partnerships bolster the development of LiL, removing gas fees for users and creating new revenue opportunities for developers, according to Saga.
