Ripple Introduces Organized Initiative to Support Japanese Web3 Startups Concentrating on XRPL
Ripple has collaborated with the Web3 Salon initiative from the Asia Web3 Alliance Japan to support XRPL startups in Japan.
Announced on Monday, the XRP issuer will provide grant funding of up to $200,000 for each project over the upcoming year. This initiative is part of the XRPL Japan and Korea Fund and Ripple’s extensive commitment of 1 billion XRP.
“The funding will be granted to a chosen group of early-stage startups located in Japan that are developing on the XRPL,” Ripple stated. This encompasses companies focused on applications such as decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenized real-world assets (RWA), and more.
The grants will be distributed to startups based on their “growth potential, technological advancement, and alignment with Ripple’s investment goals.”
Moreover, startups will have access to Ripple’s global partner network and experts, as noted by the digital asset firm.

Grant Program or a Multi-Stakeholder Platform?
The selected startups will receive financial support and ecosystem assistance from Ripple, while Web3 Salon will provide mentorship, workshops, and tailored opportunities for founders to expand their projects.
“Through this collaboration with Ripple, we aim to assist visionary founders and enhance the connection between global innovation and Japan’s technology landscape,” stated Hinza Asif, President of Asia Web3 Alliance Japan.
Ripple describes the initiative as more of a multi-stakeholder platform. It unites various groups to tackle the divide between traditional financial systems and Web3 innovation.
Additionally, the initiative includes four significant events across Japan through 2026. These gatherings are designed to promote Web3 innovation, policy alignment, and investor engagement through pitch competitions, policy discussions, and investor networking.
Ripple Initiative Fosters Japan’s XRP Boom
Earlier this year, Japan’s banking sector recognized XRP, marking a pivotal moment for institutional adoption.
The Bank of Japan (BOJ) confirmed that by the end of 2025, all banks in the country will implement XRP for payments.
Furthermore, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse mentioned last year that the company is in the process of introducing a stablecoin in Japan soon, pending regulatory approval and licensing.
Recently, Mercari, one of Japan’s largest e-commerce platforms, introduced XRP trading features on its Mercoin crypto exchange application.
