Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse anticipates “forward progress” in cryptocurrency regulation following the U.S. presidential election, a topic he addressed at Washington DC Fintech Week on October 23, 2024.

During his address, Garlinghouse expressed his thoughts on the likelihood of regulatory changes contingent on the election results between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Focus on Crypto Voters Ahead of U.S. Election

“Regardless of the outcome, I believe we will experience a reset,” Garlinghouse remarked at the forum, pointing out that the current administration has adopted what he characterized as a “hostile” stance towards .

“We are going to witness considerable advancement, and I am genuinely looking forward to that,” he added.

As both principal candidates—Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris—endeavor to appeal to crypto voters, Garlinghouse’s remarks come with less than two weeks left until the election.

Trump, in particular, has been a prominent critic of the Biden administration and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), even pledging to dismiss SEC Chair Gary Gensler if he wins.

“We will establish regulations,” Trump declared at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville, “But moving forward, the rules will be crafted by those who support your industry, not those who oppose it,” he added.

Harris, on the other hand, advocates for balanced regulations in the digital asset space, though she has not yet revealed the details of these policies.

Her outreach has also focused on crucial voter demographics, including Black male voters, where Trump has gained traction.

“She will guarantee that digital asset owners and investors benefit from an equitable regulatory framework,” a recent agenda from the Harris campaign states. “This will safeguard Black men and others engaged in the market.”

Brad Garlinghouse Advocates for Pro-Crypto Regulation

Apart from his regulatory forecasts, Garlinghouse has been a proactive supporter of pro-crypto candidates, making substantial contributions to political causes.

Earlier this year, Ripple donated $25 million to the digital asset PAC Fairshake.

Most recently, the Ripple CEO backed Senator Elizabeth Warren’s opponent, John Deaton, in the forthcoming Massachusetts election.

Deaton aims to unseat the strongly anti-crypto legislator.

I wholeheartedly endorse John in his Senate campaign.

“@JohnEDeaton1 has been a steadfast advocate for the XRP Army (aka XRP Family!) and the entire crypto sector. In contrast, his opponent, @SenWarren spreads misinformation and lies about crypto,” Garlinghouse stated in an X post on October 22. “I enthusiastically and wholeheartedly endorse John in his Senate run.”

As the 2024 election approaches, the outcome remains uncertain concerning how many pro-crypto lawmakers will take office, leaving the crypto industry in anticipation of what lies ahead.
