Revolut Introduces Immediate Fund Transfers to China
Revolut has introduced an instant money transfer service to mainland China utilizing the Alipay payment system, enabling users to send money using only the recipient’s ID and name.
Revolut revealed a collaboration with Ant International that allows its users to execute instant transfers to China via the Alipay payment system. The maximum transaction limit is established at 50,000 yuan (~$7,000). This service is currently accessible to Revolut users in Japan and Singapore, with intentions to extend to additional countries in the future.
As per the World Bank, remittances to China amounted to $48 billion in 2024.
The newly launched service addresses the increasing need for efficient cross-border remittances, streamlining the process to merely two fields: the recipient’s Alipay ID and name. Transfers are conducted in yuan, with Revolut automatically converting the sender’s balance into yuan at the prevailing exchange rate if required.
From a technical perspective, the integration with Alipay is facilitated by Ant International’s global platform, which guarantees compliance, security, and scalability. Jacques Xu, General Manager of Global Remittance Business at Ant International, stated that the collaboration with Revolut will transform the cross-border remittance experience and enhance the global standing of both companies.
In May 2025, Revolut launched support for the Lightning Network infrastructure to enhance Bitcoin payments for users in the U.K. and select nations within the European Economic Area.
