Polymarket Participants Anticipate Greater Chance of Donald Trump Pardoning Insurrectionists Over Silk Road Creator
In a recent survey conducted on Polymarket, bettors anticipate that President-elect Donald Trump, who is scheduled for inauguration in January 2025, is more inclined to pardon the January 6 U.S. Capitol insurrectionists than Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.
Donald Trump More Likely to Pardon Insurrectionists Than Silk Road Founder Ross Ulbricht
According to the Polymarket survey titled “Who will Trump pardon?” Ulbricht is believed to have an 83% likelihood of receiving a pardon, while the Capitol insurrectionists—who breached the U.S. Capitol in January 2021 to obstruct Joe Biden’s inauguration—are given an 89% chance.

Trump had previously committed to releasing the contentious darknet market founder after Ulbricht was sentenced to life imprisonment for running Silk Road, an anonymous e-commerce site infamous for its illegal drug trade.
Since his sentencing, Ulbricht has shown remorse, and his case has garnered significant backing from individuals within the cryptocurrency community.
After the January 6 riot, which resulted in six fatalities and 174 emergency responders injured, Trump became the first U.S. president to be impeached twice, once for inciting the insurrection.
As per a January 2024 press release from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, approximately 1,265 individuals faced charges related to the assault.
The survey also includes other prominent potential recipients of pardons, such as FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, Breitbart executive Steve Bannon, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, and Trump himself.
Donald Trump Promises Crypto-Friendly Regulations
The Republican nominee, who recently launched his family’s crypto platform, World Liberty Financial, this past September, has actively endorsed digital assets while campaigning for the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election.
Trump has pledged to implement a regulatory framework that is favorable to cryptocurrency across the United States and to dismiss the controversial United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler upon his return to the Oval Office.
“We will have regulations,” Trump remarked at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference, adding, “but from now on, the rules will be written by the people who love your industry, not hate your industry.”
Defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris had sought to attract crypto voters in the weeks leading up to the election, though her efforts were unsuccessful.
Donald Trump’s inauguration is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
