SOFTSWISS released findings from an extensive study on the target demographic of social iGaming projects, based on data from the SpinArena platform’s user base. The research examined information from approximately 700,000 social casino users, revealing that over 80% prefer to remain anonymous, as these platforms do not mandate the sharing of personal information during registration.

Among the players who did provide their information, a significant portion were aged between 18 and 30, accounting for 12.45% of the total player base. Users aged 30 to 40 followed, making up only 3.12% of the total. Those over 40 years old represented less than 1%. Overall, fewer than 17% of users disclosed their age.

The vast majority of players who identified their gender are male. The social casino is particularly favored by players from Germany, with the U.K. and Northern Ireland ranking second and third, respectively.

Additional noteworthy data from the study includes:

  • the average gaming session lasts approximately 47 minutes;
  • peak player activity occurs in the afternoon and evening;
  • the highest number of registrations takes place between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.;
  • player activity peaks on Fridays and Sundays, with Mondays showing the least activity, though the difference is only about 10%;
  • the retention rate for German players within a month of registration is 14%;
  • slots are the most favored games among players;
  • the top five games account for one-third of all gaming sessions, while half of the sessions are dedicated to the top 15 games;
  • Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza, and Sugar Rush are popular choices in both social and traditional online casinos.

In conclusion, gaming behaviors and user engagement correspond with human biorhythms and social commitments, thus following recognizable patterns. Jochen Martinez, Founder of Ously Games GmbH, remarks that the requirements of users in both traditional and social casinos are alike. However, social casinos distinguish themselves by providing a safer gaming experience, eliminating financial risks, and fostering a unique environment for social interaction.

Furthermore, Vitali Matsukevich, COO at SOFTSWISS, pointed out that the behavior of social casino users aligns with that of players who favor traditional iGaming projects. In this regard, the recent acquisition of a stake in the German company Ously Games GmbH, which operates SpinArena, the largest social casino platform in Europe, is strategic and aims to aid in the development of a new B2B software product from SOFTSWISS — a comprehensive social casino platform.
