Organizations Agree to Accept Cryptocurrency Contributions to Support Wildfire Relief in Los Angeles

Hundreds of residents have been evacuated from parts of Los Angeles following the outbreak of wildfires, intensified by strong winds, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
So far, the fires have resulted in two fatalities, with many more individuals struggling to escape the impacted regions as evacuation orders expand.
Several organizations are currently accepting cryptocurrency donations to assist those affected by the wildfires in LA.
Relief efforts are gaining traction as local and international donors step forward to provide essential support.
The Giving Block Emergency Response Fundraiser
The cryptocurrency donation platform The Giving Block initiated an emergency response fundraiser on January 8 to support charitable organizations operating in the Greater Los Angeles Metro Area. The fundraiser aims to aid humanitarian and disaster relief initiatives.
Destructive wildfires are ravaging Southern California, causing extensive damage.

All the nonprofits featured in The Giving Block’s fundraiser accept cryptocurrency donations in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Circle’s USDC dollar-pegged stablecoin.
Many of these organizations also accept donations in the form of stocks, donor-advised funds (DAFs), and credit cards.
Nonprofit organizations that accept cryptocurrency donations include The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, First Responders Children’s Foundation, and several others.
Givepact Shares List of Organizations Supporting LA Wildfire Relief
Givepact, another cryptocurrency donation platform, has compiled a list of foundations accepting cryptocurrency donations to support wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles.
These organizations include The California Fire Foundation, The Wildland Firefighter Foundation, and The Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation, among others.

By offering a variety of donation methods, both platforms encourage the cryptocurrency community to contribute to relief efforts and provide vital resources to affected areas.
Crypto Donors Demonstrate Generosity During Times of Crisis
Ben Pousty, Chief Operating Officer at The Giving Block, informed Cryptonews that cryptocurrency donors have consistently displayed remarkable generosity during crises.
“Through The Giving Block, the crypto community raised $1 million for the Maui Fires, aiding relief efforts after entire neighborhoods were reduced to ashes, and another $1 million for Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which caused widespread flooding and destruction,” Pousty stated.
According to The Giving Block’s Annual Industry Report on the State of Crypto Philanthropy, over $2 billion in cryptocurrency donations have been recorded as of January 2024.
Pousty expressed optimism that the Los Angeles Wildfires Emergency Response Fundraiser will inspire similar contributions, stating, “Every donation fuels the efforts of trusted organizations on the ground, delivering essential support to those in greatest need.”
“Together, we can harness the collective strength of the crypto community into transformative assistance for the residents of Los Angeles,” he added.
Los Angeles Crypto Community Calls for Assistance
As relief efforts continue to develop, members of Los Angeles’ cryptocurrency community are urgently requesting support.
Los Angeles-based crypto influencer “Wendy O” told Cryptonews that, “It’s truly tragic to witness the damage from the fire and winds in Southern California.”
Wendy O emphasized that the LA wildfires affect all Americans.
“It’s true that homeowners insurance in California has been canceled for many – I experienced this two years ago. Please show compassion to those affected and help if you can,” she remarked.

The crypto YouTube channel Altcoin Daily also shared on its X account that the Los Angeles wildfire is the worst in history, raising awareness of the devastation. The hosts of the Altcoin Daily show are both based in LA.
As the LA wildfire crisis continues to unfold, the combined efforts of nonprofit organizations and the cryptocurrency community offer hope for affected residents.
