The Justice Department reported that Ford raised $9.4 million from 2,800 investors through “fraudulent conduct.”

Additionally, Ford has been mandated to pay $1 million in forfeiture and $170,000 in restitution.

Travis Ford Faces Consequences for Crypto Fraud

The CEO of Wolf Capital initially pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in January of this year.

Between January 2023 and August 2023, Ford “solicited investments” for the cryptocurrency scheme through his company’s website and various “social media and internet-based promotional activities.”

Ford falsely assured investors that he could provide returns of 1-2% daily, which amounts to 547% annually.

Court documents reveal that Ford portrayed himself as a “sophisticated trader” while he “publicly supported Wolf Capital.”

However, records indicate that Wolf Capital was not “achieving such returns” but was, in fact, “losing investor funds,” contrary to the claims made by the crypto firm.

“Ford and his co-conspirators allegedly made such false promises to persuade members of the public to invest money in the company,” the press release notes.

“Ford then misappropriated and redirected investor funds for his own benefit and that of his co-conspirators, causing financial harm to investors,” the document adds.

As part of his guilty plea, Ford ultimately acknowledged that he did not believe it was feasible to achieve the level of returns he claimed.
