Non-fungible token (NFT) creator DeeKay has disclosed that his life savings and web3 income were taken after his cryptocurrency wallets were breached.

As per a social media update from DeeKay, the hacking incident transpired during a 14-hour journey from Korea to New York, leaving him without internet access while the breach occurred.
DeeKay Loses Life Savings Except NFTs
DeeKay clarified that he had kept his seed phrase in a photograph of a handwritten note, which was synchronized with Google Drive.
Even though he concealed it in a random folder, there were no indications of unusual login activity, which left him confused about how the breach happened.
He also suggested that the leak might have originated from the physical copy of the seed phrase or possibly through a public WiFi network he had previously utilized.
However, DeeKay pointed out that he had not engaged with any suspicious individuals or knowingly downloaded anything harmful.
While all of his cryptocurrency funds were taken, DeeKay found it peculiar that his NFTs remained intact.

He has since started transferring his remaining NFTs to a secure wallet, aiming to safeguard the assets that were left.
DeeKay conveyed significant concern regarding the financial repercussions of the theft, especially since his family depends on him for financial support.
He emphasized that this incident marks one of the most significant challenges he has faced in his life.
“I’m left with nothing now, and this is probably the biggest challenge of my life,” stated DeeKay. “Right now, my mind is exhausted and I need to get some sleep first.”

Just last week, a similar incident affected a crypto whale, leading to the loss of over $32 million in wrapped ether (spWETH) tokens due to a phishing scheme.

According to the blockchain security firm ScamSniffer, the assets were taken through a malicious transaction linked to the decentralized finance protocol Spark.
The attack was carried out using Inferno Drainer, a recognized scam-as-a-service tool, and was flagged on the platform X.
