The cryptocurrency exchange Bitso examined the activities of its users from the LATAM region during the second half of 2023. The analysis revealed that over half of Latin American cryptocurrency users prefer Bitcoin and dollar-pegged stablecoins.
According to data from Bitso, approximately 38% of users in Latin America utilize BTC. The proportion of BTC users varies across different LATAM nations, specifically:
- Brazil — 58%;
- Mexico — 40%;
- Colombia — 38%;
- Argentina — 13%.
Stablecoins linked to the U.S. dollar rank as the second most favored asset among users in Latin America. About 30% of Bitso users in the region have purchased USDC and USDT. However, the percentage of users from various LATAM countries differs, as follows:
