The MetaMask Card enables users to utilize the cryptocurrencies stored in their MetaMask wallet for purchases at both physical locations and online.

“Currently, the MetaMask Card is not accessible to users in New York or Vermont, and you will need to join the waitlist,” the announcement stated.

Through this limited-time pilot program, users in the US can make everyday transactions with cryptocurrency wherever Mastercard is accepted. The card operates similarly to a crypto debit card, according to the company.

“The MetaMask Card pilot provides individuals with greater flexibility to spend crypto,” remarked Lorenzo Santos, Senior Product Manager at Consensys.

“The Card signifies a significant advancement in eliminating the barriers that have historically existed between blockchain technology and real-world commerce. This represents a paradigm shift that combines the advantages of both realms.”

Crypto Life, a card program manager associated with Mastercard, has collaborated with MetaMask to issue the Crypto Card.

Eligible users can sign up via the MetaMask Portfolio and obtain their crypto cards by creating an account on the Crypto Life website. Once registered, the card automatically converts cryptocurrency into local fiat currencies at the time of payment, as noted on the website.

MetaMask Card Plans to Expand Globally

The Card is currently available in the EU, UK, Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. The wallet launched the card in collaboration with the fintech company Baanx Platform.

Additionally, MetaMask is also preparing to extend its crypto payment card to other nations in the near future.

Users can connect their digital wallets with Apple Pay or Google Pay to utilize their cryptocurrencies as well. Eligible currencies include , , and WETH on the Linea network, as stated in the official announcement.
