Matt Hougan: Two altcoins could rally this year, 2026/01/03 11:05:06

Crypto asset manager Bitwise’s chief investment officer Matt Hougan said Ethereum and Solana could see a sustained rally this year.
According to Hougan, the entry into force of a US law called the Clarity Act, which clarifies the regulation of digital assets in the US and is awaiting consideration in the Senate, will be a powerful impetus for altcoins.
“The legislation could open up hundreds of trillions of dollars of markets, ensure long-term stability, and demonstrate that the United States is serious about building a financial future on blockchain. Ether and Solana can reach new historical highs,” said a Bitwise top manager.
He emphasized that broadcasting has already demonstrated high performance in 2025. After falling to $1,500 in the first months of last year, the second largest cryptocurrency by capitalization was able to overcome the negative trend. Ether’s recovery above $3,000 has restored investor confidence, especially among those who were previously wary of the asset.
Solana also continues to strengthen its position as one of the fastest growing ecosystems. The growth in the number of applications, increased user activity and stable network operation maintains investor interest, bolstering the coin’s future growth, Hougan said.
Earlier, the founder of MN Consultancy and analyst Michael van de Poppe said that most altcoins will not be able to show positive dynamics and will disappear from the crypto market before the end of the year.
