The Chief Investment Officer of the cryptocurrency asset management firm Bitwise, Matt Hougan, stated that the “anchoring effect” hinders many investors from accurately assessing the potential of the cryptocurrency market.
He noted that for some investors, their introduction to digital assets began with controversies, such as the MtGox exchange hack, and this continues to shape their perception of the industry even now, as blockchain technology is being actively adopted by Wall Street firms.

According to him, the reality has evolved, yet many investors still rely on outdated notions. In recent years, the infrastructure for storage, custodial solutions, and risk management tools in the crypto sector has approached the standards of traditional capital markets.
Once digital assets are no longer viewed as an “alternative experiment” and are integrated into the portfolios of major investors, the influx of capital could exceed current market expectations, Hougan concluded.
Previously, analysts from Wintermute indicated that the decline in activity within the cryptocurrency market is linked to a capital rotation by investors withdrawing funds from technology stocks, which is also reflected in digital assets.
